The Clinical Serology and Molecular Special Interest Group (CS&M SIG) is a national, discipline specific committee overseen by the Australian Society of Microbiology. The group provides expert resource for proactive and reactive advice and information about issues regarding antibody and antigen testing, and associated molecular testing such as;

  • Providing laboratory education and training

  • Quality Assurance advice and education

  • Contributing to notifiable disease case definitions

  • Reviewing problems associated with serology and associated molecular testing

  • Providing expert advice on pending regulatory publications

The Working Group Terms of Reference can be found here.

NATA accreditation requires laboratories to have documented staff competency records both at the commencement of and throughout employment. To aid laboratories in achieving this regulatory requirement the CS&M SIG has collected examples of Competency Based Assessment documents (CBA) from SERSIG mailing list members. The documents are examples of CBAs in current use and are offered as a guide/template to help laboratories create their own documents.

The CS&M SIG would also like to expand on these documents. If you would like to contribute your CBA to the SERSIG community please submit them to the moderator by emailing them to sersig@nrl.gov.au

The CS&M SIG would like to thank the following institutions for their CBA submissions;

Pathology West/ICPMR
South Eastern Area Laboratory Service (SEALS)
SydPath

QLD
Pathology Queensland
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP)
